3. Eligibility and Minor Participation
3.1 The Contest is open to eligible Organizations in Canada, excluding Quebec. Organizations located in Quebec are not eligible.
3.2 Minors may fully participate as Designers. A Minor Designer may not be the Entrant. An Entry involving a Minor Designer must be approved and submitted by an adult Entrant on behalf of the Organization.
3.3 The Entrant must be authorized by the Organization to submit the Entry. The Sponsor may request reasonable written confirmation of that authority at any time, including before a prize is awarded.
3.4 For every Minor Designer, the Entrant must confirm that the Minor Designer has permission to participate and that any parent or legal guardian consent reasonably required for the submission, public display and permitted use of the Design has been obtained. The Sponsor may require written confirmation from a parent or legal guardian before publishing an Entry, during the Contest or before awarding a prize.
3.5 No prize will be awarded or delivered directly to a minor. Prizes are awarded to the winning Organization and must be accepted through an authorized adult representative of that Organization.
3.6 Employees, officers and directors of the Sponsor, its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies and prize suppliers, and their immediate family members (parent, sibling, child, spouse or partner) and household members, are not eligible to enter.
4. How to Enter
4.1 During the Contest Period, visit the Contest submission page and complete the entry form. The form requests the Designer's first name or preferred public display name, the Organization name, whether the Designer is under the age of majority, the adult Entrant's contact information and role, the Organization's mailing address, the Design file, and the confirmations required by these Rules.
4.2 If the Designer is a minor, the Entrant must be an Adult Representative. The Sponsor does not require a Minor Designer's home address. Personal or home addresses must not be submitted as the Organization's prize-delivery address.
4.3 The Organization mailing address must be within Canada, excluding Quebec. Prizes will be delivered only to that address.
4.4 Each Design must meet these technical requirements:
- File format: PNG, PDF, SVG.
- Artwork size: 12 in x 11 in.
- File size: 10 MB maximum.
4.5 Multiple Entries are permitted. A Designer or design team may submit more than one Entry, and an Entrant or Adult Representative may submit more than one Entry, provided that each Entry is a separate submission of a different Design. Submitting the same or a substantially similar Design more than once is not permitted, and the Sponsor may remove duplicate Entries. An Organization may have multiple Entries, but may receive no more than one prize. If more than one Entry from the same Organization would otherwise place in the top three, only the highest-ranked Entry from that Organization will receive a prize and the next highest-ranked eligible Entry from a different Organization will move into the remaining prize position.
4.6 Entries must be received before the Contest Period ends. Late, incomplete, illegible, corrupted or otherwise non-compliant Entries are void. Proof of submission is not proof of receipt.
4.7 The Sponsor may review each Design before publication and may decline to publish, or later remove, any Design or Entry that does not comply with these Rules.
5. Design Requirements
5.1 Each Design must be original work created by the Designer or Designers identified in the Entry, or work for which all permissions needed for submission and the uses described in these Rules have been obtained. A Design must not have won a prize in another contest.
5.2 A Design must not contain, and its use must not infringe, any third-party copyright, trademark, logo, character, brand or other intellectual property right, including professional sports, entertainment or commercial marks, unless written permission has been obtained from the rights holder. A Design also must not include the name, image or likeness of an identifiable person without appropriate consent, including parent or guardian consent where that person is a minor.
5.3 An Organization's own name, crest or logo may be used only with the Organization's authorization.
5.4 Because the Contest is open to minors and Designs may be displayed publicly, every Design must be appropriate for viewers of all ages. A Design must not contain content that is obscene, sexually explicit or suggestive, profane, hateful, discriminatory, harassing, violent or graphic, defamatory, or that depicts or promotes illegal activity, weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vaping or cannabis, or is otherwise inappropriate for minors or a school audience.
5.5 The Sponsor will determine, acting reasonably and in accordance with these Rules, whether a Design complies with this section 5.
5.6 The Sponsor may remove a non-compliant Design or Entry from the Contest, Contest Website and leaderboard. Votes cast for a removed Design are void and a removed Design is not eligible to win. Where reasonably practicable, the Sponsor will notify the Entrant of the reason for removal.
6. Voting
6.1 Anyone with a valid email address may vote during the Contest Period. No purchase is necessary to vote.
6.2 Each individual and each email address may cast one (1) vote in total per Voting Day, regardless of the number of Designs in the Contest. The daily vote limit applies across all Designs, not to each Design: once a vote has been cast on a Voting Day, no further vote may be cast by that individual or from that email address, for the same Design or any other Design, until the next Voting Day begins.
6.3 A vote is a Valid Vote only if it is cast by a real individual, personally and manually, using an email address that the individual owns and controls. The Sponsor may require email verification.
6.4 The following are not Valid Votes and may be removed at any time: votes generated by bots, scripts, macros or other automated means; votes from disposable, temporary, fabricated or improperly aliased email addresses; votes obtained through payment, reward, incentive, vote-exchange services or vote-trading groups; and votes cast by one individual through multiple email addresses to exceed the limit in section 6.2.
6.5 The Sponsor may remove invalid votes at any time. The Sponsor may disqualify an Entry, Entrant or Organization where it reasonably determines that the Entrant or Organization participated in, authorized, encouraged, knew of, or ought reasonably to have known of an attempt to manipulate voting or otherwise obtain invalid votes.
6.6 Vote totals displayed on the Contest Website are preliminary and unofficial. The official number of Valid Votes is the number determined by the Sponsor after verification.
6.7 Entrants and Organizations may share a Design's voting link on social media and elsewhere, provided they comply with these Rules, applicable law and the terms of the applicable platform. They must not send unsolicited commercial electronic messages in violation of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation.
7. Winner Selection
7.1 After the Contest Period ends and votes have been verified, the Sponsor will score all eligible Entries and select three winning Entries, subject to the one-prize-per-Organization rule in section 4.5.
7.2 Each eligible Entry will receive a final score based on the following criteria:
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Valid public votes | 50% |
| Originality | 20% |
| Visual appeal | 15% |
| Suitability for printing on apparel | 15% |
7.3 The Sponsor may use one or more qualified judges to score originality, visual appeal and suitability for printing on apparel. Judging will be applied consistently to eligible Entries. The Sponsor's determination of Valid Votes and scoring under the stated criteria is final, subject to applicable law.
7.4 If two or more Entries have the same final score, the tied Entries will first be ranked by originality score. If a tie remains, they will next be ranked by suitability for printing on apparel, then visual appeal. If a tie still remains, the Sponsor will conduct a further judging of the tied Entries using originality as the determining criterion.
7.5 If a selected Entry is disqualified, removed, belongs to an Organization that has already received a higher-ranked prize, or a prize is forfeited, the Sponsor may select the next highest-scoring eligible Entry from a different eligible Organization using the criteria in section 7.2.
7.6 Potential winners will be selected at the Sponsor's office in Vancouver, British Columbia after vote verification and judging are completed. Winners will be announced on or before January 31, 2027, subject to section 10.
8. Prizes
8.1 Three prize packages are available. Blank apparel and custom DTF transfers are provided up to the approximate retail values shown below, in styles, sizes and quantities agreed with the winning Organization:
| Place | Prize package | Approx. retail value (CAD) |
|---|---|---|
| First | HTVRONT digital heat press, white ($400); blank apparel ($200); custom DTF transfers featuring the winning Design ($180); heat press starter pack ($20) | $800 |
| Second | HTVRONT digital heat press, white ($400); blank apparel ($150); custom DTF transfers featuring the winning Design ($130); heat press starter pack ($20) | $700 |
| Third | HTVRONT digital heat press, white ($400); blank apparel ($100); custom DTF transfers featuring the winning Design ($80); heat press starter pack ($20) | $600 |
8.2 Total approximate retail value of all prizes: $2,100 CAD.
8.3 Prizes are awarded to the winning Organization, not to the Designer or Entrant, and will be shipped only to the Organization's mailing address within Canada, excluding Quebec, within approximately 6 to 8 weeks after winner verification.
8.4 Prizes must be accepted as awarded, are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash. The Sponsor may substitute a prize or prize component with one of equal or greater approximate retail value if the advertised item cannot reasonably be supplied.
8.5 The winning Organization is responsible for the safe use of the heat press. It must be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and, where used by minors, under appropriate adult supervision. Any manufacturer warranty is the applicable product warranty.
9. Chances of Winning
9.1 The chances of winning depend on the number and quality of eligible Entries received, the number of Valid Votes received by each Entry, and the judging scores assigned under section 7.2.
10. Winner Notification and Verification
10.1 The Sponsor will contact each potential winning Organization through the Entrant or Adult Representative using the contact information submitted with the Entry, within 5 Business Days after selection.
10.2 To be declared a winner, an authorized Adult Representative of the potential winning Organization must, within 14 Business Days after first contact:
- correctly answer, without assistance, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question administered by the Sponsor by phone, video call, email or another reasonable method;
- sign and return the Sponsor's Declaration and Release confirming compliance with these Rules, the Organization's authority to accept the prize, and the rights and permissions required for the Design; and
- where a Minor Designer contributed to the Design, provide any parent or legal guardian consent or confirmation reasonably requested by the Sponsor.
10.3 A Minor Designer will not be required to sign a liability release or personally answer the skill-testing question.
10.4 If a potential winner cannot be reached, the Adult Representative fails to answer the skill-testing question correctly, required documents are not returned on time, or the Entry or Organization is found to be ineligible or non-compliant, the prize may be forfeited and section 7.5 will apply.
10.5 Winners will be announced on the Contest Website and the Sponsor's social media on or before January 31, 2027. If an alternate winner cannot be confirmed by that date, the Sponsor will announce that winner as soon as reasonably practicable afterward.
11. Intellectual Property and Licence
11.1 Copyright in each Design remains with its creator or lawful owner.
11.2 By submitting an Entry, the Entrant and Organization represent that they have obtained all permissions needed to submit the Design and permit the uses described in these Rules. For a Minor Designer, the Sponsor may require confirmation from a parent or legal guardian before making promotional use of the Design beyond administration of the Contest.
11.3 The creator or lawful owner of the Design grants the Sponsor a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence for two years after the end of the Contest Period to reproduce, display, publish, resize, crop, convert file format or colour profile, and communicate the Design to the public in any media solely for administering, promoting and publicizing the Contest and the Sponsor's brands, including on the Contest Website, social media, email and advertising.
11.4 For winning Designs, the licence also permits the Sponsor to reproduce the Design as custom DTF transfers and other prize components for delivery to the winning Organization. The Sponsor will not sell merchandise bearing a submitted Design to the public without a separate written agreement with the Design's lawful owner or authorized representative.
11.5 To the extent legally permitted and only as reasonably necessary for the uses authorized by this section 11, the creator or lawful owner agrees not to assert moral rights against the Sponsor in relation to technical formatting or reproduction of the Design. Where the creator is a minor, the Sponsor may require any additional consent or waiver that is legally appropriate before making a material adaptation of the Design.
11.6 The Entrant and Organization represent and warrant, to the best of their knowledge and after reasonable inquiry, that the Design complies with section 5 and that they have the rights and permissions necessary for the submission and authorized uses.
12. Publicity
12.1 By entering, the Entrant and Organization consent to the Sponsor publishing the Organization's name, the Design, vote information, and the city and province of the Organization in connection with the Contest, without further compensation.
12.2 The Sponsor may display the Designer's first name, nickname or other preferred display name submitted through the entry form with the Design. The Sponsor will not publish a Minor Designer's full legal name, photograph, likeness, personal social-media account or other additional identifying personal information without the express consent of the Minor Designer's parent or legal guardian.
13. Privacy and Marketing Consent
13.1 The Sponsor collects personal information from Entrants, Adult Representatives, Designers and voters only as reasonably necessary to administer the Contest, verify eligibility and votes, communicate with participants, contact and verify potential winners, publish permitted Contest information and deliver prizes, in accordance with applicable privacy law and the Sponsor's Privacy Policy at https://t-shirt.ca/about-us/our-privacy-policy/.
13.2 Where the Designer is a minor, the adult Entrant provides the Minor Designer's first name or preferred display name and confirms the required permission for participation. The Sponsor will seek to collect no more information about a Minor Designer than is reasonably necessary for Contest administration and permitted public display.
13.3 Contest contact information will not be added to the Sponsor's marketing list unless the individual separately provides valid express consent through an optional, unchecked opt-in. Marketing consent is not a condition of entering or voting, and a person who subscribes may unsubscribe at any time.
13.4 Personal information about a Minor Designer will not be used for marketing as a result of participation in the Contest.
13.5 Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes identified above and to satisfy applicable legal, accounting, dispute-resolution and recordkeeping requirements, after which it will be securely destroyed or anonymized, as appropriate.
13.6 Privacy questions and access or correction requests may be directed to the Sponsor's Privacy Officer at privacy@t-shirt.ca or 1-866-296-0640.
14. Release and Limitation of Liability
14.1 To the extent permitted by applicable law, each adult Entrant, Adult Representative and participating Organization agrees to release the Sponsor, its affiliates, agencies and prize suppliers, and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents (the "Released Parties"), from liability for loss, damage or injury arising from participation in the Contest or the acceptance, use or misuse of a prize, except to the extent caused by a Released Party's negligence, wilful misconduct or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14.2 Nothing in these Rules is intended to require a minor to waive a right or claim that cannot legally be waived on the minor's behalf.
14.3 Subject to applicable law, the Released Parties are not responsible for technical failures, website outages, transmission errors, lost, late, misdirected or corrupted Entries or votes, errors in displayed vote totals, or printing or typographical errors in Contest materials. The Sponsor will use reasonable efforts to correct material errors that come to its attention.
14.4 Nothing in these Rules limits any right or remedy that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.
15. Sponsor Rights
15.1 Subject to applicable law, the Sponsor may cancel, suspend or modify the Contest, or amend these Rules, if fraud, technical failure, security issues or another cause beyond the Sponsor's reasonable control materially affects the fair administration, security or integrity of the Contest. Any material amendment will be posted on the Contest Website.
15.2 If the Contest is cancelled after Entries have been received, the Sponsor may, where lawful and practicable, award the prizes from among eligible Entries received before cancellation using the criteria in section 7.2 as applied at that time.
15.3 The Sponsor will not reduce the stated number or approximate value of prizes except where a substitution permitted by section 8.4 is reasonably necessary.
16. General
16.1 These Rules are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Subject to any mandatory rights or venue rules under applicable law, disputes relating to the Contest will be determined by the courts or tribunals of British Columbia.
16.2 If any provision of these Rules is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.
16.3 If there is a conflict between these Rules and other Contest materials, these Rules govern, except that mandatory disclosures required by applicable law continue to apply.
16.4 The Contest is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Meta, Instagram, TikTok, Google or any other social media platform.
16.5 Questions about the Contest may be sent to sales@t-shirt.ca or by telephone at 1-866-296-0640.
